Leinsdorf conducts, Beethoven, Symphony No. 3, Rochester PO

ural LP with a remarkable performance of Beethoven's Symphony No.
3 by the Rochester Orchestra under Erich Leinsdorf.  The recording was
made on April 2, 1953.  Several Eroica-mavens have praised this
obscure LP in the forum.  At the
outset, it sounds like it will follow the Toscanini model, but
Leinsdorf's tempi are actually quite flexible, and he doesn't miss a
chance to heighten the expressivity of the music.  I like the recorded
sound, too. One always has the sense of being in a real space with a
real orchestra.
